    I really like my Garmin eTrex Vista. It is pocket size and you can purchase very good topo maps for it. It’s only limitations are that it does not always maintain a signal lock in deep woods and the small screen makes it impractical for highway navigation.

    I have used one for years for hunting, fishing and geocaching.

    Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS is probably what your looking for. Its recommended by many professional outdoors men. I use one hiking in New Hampshire around MT Washington and never lose the signal. Read more at

    I am suggestion Garmin Rino 110 Handheld GPS, it a good one GPS system for hunting, hiking, fishing.
    * Combination two-way radio and GPS receiver
